Sexapalooza is a trade show for adults ages nineteen and older. Businesses that sell adult products are the main attraction for the event. However, seminars and educational videos are also available to help customers learn how to improve their sexual performance. Live entertainment is provided and includes male erotic dancers, painted models, burlesque shows and other performances. The show in Ottawa was held at Landsowne Park on January 14-16, 2011.
Vendors displayed their adult products in stores throughout the facility. Items available for purchase included lingerie, adult toys, candles, DVDs, fetish items, and other adult products. Some of the stores selling these items included Classixxx Adult Stores, Adult Fun Superstore, B.A.R.E. Restraints, Wicked Wanda’s Adult Emporium, Bliss Toys, Tuesday’s The Romance Store, Ware's and Wear, The Birds and Bees, D’n’A Distribution, Fantasia, Sportsheets, Feel The Love, Lovestyle Adult Toys, Sexcessories and Bonnie’s Bedroom.
A variety of other types of adult product vendors were present for Sexapalooza. Bashful & Bold, a business that provides private nightclub shows for couples with fetishes or swinging lifestyles, had an exhibit. Bearly Exposed Photography and Chantal Benoit Photography had stores at the show. These companies take erotic photographs for their customers. Opal Carew, author of contemporary erotic romance novels, was present. So was SuperClubs Hedonsim Jamaica, a business that has a resort for adults only. Companies that put on Burlesque shows, such as Capital Tease and Rockalily Burlesque, were also at the show.
Other businesses and organizations at the show included Anything on Earth, Ottawa BDSM Community, Triesco Lube, X-Treme Services, Cam4.com, Toronto Dymes/Soul Image, Control Wear, Des Hauts et des Bas, Global Trade Promotions, In Your Dreams, Kitty’s Boutique, Kitty’s Corsets, La Lingerie, Pleasure Me, RF Enterprises, Beyond the Beauty and SP Marketing.
Halyma's Belly Dancing had an exhibit at Sexapalooza. In addition, Cherry Blossom Pole Dancing Studio, 3 Sixty Dance and Fitness, and Ottawa Pole Dancing, Inc., set up stores.
Some business at Sexapalooza were not specifically aimed at adult products. These businesses include Henna Body Art and Toronto Body Painting. Perfect Sense store also displayed their products, which include candles, bath products, and organic tea products. Calm Connections was set up for the show. This business provides massages, yoga classes and other treatments to help with stress management. Sinate Clothing, which makes unique handmade clothes, also had a store.
A few businesses at the show were social services types of organizations. Planned Parenthood, which helps people make choices regarding reproductive health, was present. Jer's Vision was also at Sexapalooza. This is a charity that works with youth to promote diversity. Clitoraid, which focuses on preventing female genital mutilation, had an exhibit at Sexapalooza.
The next Sexapalooza in Ottawa will be held February 10-12, 2012, at Ottawa Convention Center. Vendors for this event have not been determined.
